Two teens have been arrested in connection with running over an Orlando police officer on Monday.

Orlando police arrested Angel Nieves, 17, and have charged him with tampering with evidence.

Edward Earl Kelty, 17, was arrested earlier and charged with attempted second degree murder on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer, with violence.

Kelty is suspected of running over Officer William Anderson on July 13, as he conducted a traffic stop at a McDonald’s located at 5400 S. Kirkman Road near Vineland Street. After striking Officer Anderson, Kelty fled.

Officer Anderson opened fire.

Nieves, one of the passengers, fled on foot as Officer Anderson approached the vehicle.

Detectives have identified two other persons who were in the vehicle.

As is customary, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducted an investigation into the Officer Involved shooting.  An internal investigation is also ongoing.

Meanwhile on Thursday afternoon, OPD said, Officer William Anderson is in serious condition and is currently being transported to Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
