The United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA) Greater Orlando Chapter, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating, inspiring and mobilizing Americans to support the principles and vital work of the United Nations (UN), recently celebrated UN Day by hosting its fourth annual Nurture the Nations: Taste of the UN fundraising event. The fundraiser, held on Saturday, October 24 at the Mennello Museum of American Art, raised funds for local non-profit organizations working with refugees and for its global partner, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
“We are honored to have the support of so many community members and local organizations. Our chapter strives to make a difference in the Central Florida community and these partnerships help us move forward and accomplish our mission,” stated Julie Colombino, president of UNA-USA Greater Orlando Chapter.
This year’s event featured an international food and wine tasting, silent auction, live entertainment and guest speaker’s vice-consul Irma Velez of Mexico and Hiram Ruiz, director of Refugee Services for the Department of Children and Families.
