Two teens were arrested and charged with attempted murder, Osceola County deputies said.
Mark Anthony Core,16, and Edwin Rivera, 14, both of Kissimmee, were taken into custody on Tuesday, after one of the suspects stabbed another teen.
Investigators were called last Saturday to the Brighton Lakes Community basketball courts in Kissimmee, where they found a victim with stab wounds lying on the ground.
The victim was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital and is in critical condition.
Witnesses told investigators that the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with two unknown suspects, later identified as Core and Rivera. The victim was defending a girl over inappropriate comments Core and Rivera were making about her while present, when a physical altercation occurred.
Investigators say, Core or Rivera pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim.
Core and Rivera were arrested on Tuesday and taken to the Orange County Juvenile Detention Center. The pair was charged with attempted murder.
