Big Lots opened a new store October 1st in Colonial Plaza in a space formerly occupied by a Linens ‘N Things.
The 22,100-square-foot store at 2544 E. Colonial Drive in Orlando features Columbus, Ohio-based Big Lots Inc.’s “next generation” layout, which includes wider aisles, improved merchandise presentations, enhanced lighting and new signage, said a news release.
The Class A retail space would have been something the closeout retailer “couldn’t touch in the past,” said CEO Steve Fishman, in a prepared statement. “Now that our performance has improved and there is a good supply of valuable real estate available, we can capitalize on prime real estate opportunities,” Fishman said.
The Colonial Plaza store is among 45 Big Lots (NYSE: BIG) that debuted this year, the release said. The retailer has more than 1,300 stores in 47 states.
