Whoa! Fire Sale: Magic could pay $12.7M for Police Headquarters, Parking Garage

policeheadquartersfinal

Although details are still being worked out, the Orlando Magic could pay $12.7 million to purchase the Orlando Police Headquarters and a public parking garage, to build a $100 million entertainment complex on the site, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Some observers worry whether taxpayers are getting a fair deal even at this price and what’s more, the Magic could end up paying less too.

The land on which the Amway Center was built, near to the Police Headquarters, cost the city nearly three times as much, the paper also reported.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer has long maintained that however it shakes out, its a pretty good deal as the Magic could invest their $100 million anywhere in the country.

But come to think of it, who will really benefit in the long run from the $100 million entertainment complex?  If it’s like the Amway Center, we know the answer already.
