Police are interviewing a suspect in an attempted bank robbery and investigators say, he is also a person of interest in an earlier bank robbery.

Two suspects entered the First Southern Bank at 910 West Vine Street in Kissimmee around 2:00 p.m. on Monday.  One passed the teller a note demanding money, while the second suspect held the security doors of the bank open, police say.

As the suspects fled the area with the cash, a dye pack exploded causing the men to drop the money and flee.

About one hour and forty-five minutes later, police say, a suspect went into the SunTrust Bank at 1000 North Main Street.  The man passed the teller a note demanding money, but fled the bank without it.

In both incidents, no one was injured.

Police detained a person for questioning in the SunTrust attempted robbery and investigators say, he is a person of interest in the First Southern Bank unarmed robbery.

Anyone with additional information on the attempted robberies is asked to contact the Kissimmee Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit at 407-846-3333, by e-mail at [email protected] or CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
