14-Year-Old Arrested for Threats to Kill or Conduct Mass Shooting in Central Florida

A 14-year-old student was arrested for threats to kill or conduct a mass shooting in Central Florida after a social media post about his new school.

On August 12th, local detectives assigned to the Threat Management Division arrested the Richard O. Jacobson Technical High School student for Written Threats to Kill or Conduct a Mass Shooting.

Detectives said 14-year-old Cole Thomas sent a Snapchat post stating, “Let a single one of these mfs look at me the wrong way im shooting up the school (tears running down face emoji).”

Richard O. Jacobson Technical High School is in Seminole, Florida in Pinellas County.

Detectives made contact with Thomas, who admitted to making the post but stated he did so jokingly because he was nervous about his new school, according to law enforcement. Thomas was arrested and charged with one count of Written Threats to Kill or Conduct a Mass Shooting.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said it remains committed to keeping local schools, children, and the community safe.

A 15-year-old female Central Florida student was also arrested for making a violent threat to shoot up her school on social media.

Anyone with information on any threats is asked to notify the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office immediately at (727) 582-6200 or via FortifyFL, a suspicious activity reporting app.
