Thompson Celebrates End of Candidate Petitioning

Geraldine Thompson turned in almost 3,000 petitions in support of her candidacy for the 10th Congressional District earlier this week.

State Senator Geraldine Thompson announced her congressional campaign is now transitioning from petitioning to a full-blown effort to win the Democratic nomination in Florida’s 10th District.

“We finished turning in nearly 3,000 signatures in support of my campaign,” State Senator Thompson told supporters by email earlier this week. “These signatures will qualify my name to appear on the ballot in the 10th Congressional District Race! This is a big deal, and represents a huge turning point for our campaign.”

Thompson is running against Chief Val Demings, Bob Poe and Fatima Fahmy in a crowded Democratic primary for the congressional seat.

“First, let me thank the countless volunteers and supporters who took time to collect these signatures,” Thompson added. “Thanks to grassroots leadership from our supporters, we are now set to qualify for the August 30th ballot. Now the real fight begins. With petitioning behind us, we will launch our full field operation, knocking on doors and talking with voters across the district.”
