Wrong Way Driver Killed, Injures 5 in Major Crash

Troopers have identified the driver who was heading the wrong way on SR 417 and who was killed.  The deceased is Arthur Robinson, 22 years, of Deland.  Robinson died on the spot.  Toxicology results are being awaited to determine whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.

Ronald Rondon, 34, of Miami was driving the Kia mini van.   Nancy Castro, 44, of Miami was one of the passengers in the van.  Both Rondon and Castro were taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

Troopers say, there were four juveniles in the mini van.

All passenger in the mini van suffered non-life threatening injuries.

A car going the wrong way on SR 417 caused a major crash when it collided head on with Kia mini van, early on Monday morning. The driver heading in the wrong direction on the Greenway in Oviedo, was killed on the spot, according to news reports.

Five children, ranging in ages 2-8 years, had to be cut out of the mini van.  All passengers in the mini van were taken to a local area hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers have not released the name of the driver of the car or the passengers in the mini van.

It is not clear whether alcohol played a role in the crash.
