A wrong-way driver on Interstate 95 collided head-on with a semi-tractor on Sunday night, killing a 24-year-old man.
Florida Highway Patrol said, the crash happened just before 9:00 p.m. near mile marker 253 or Dunlawton in Volusia County.
Troopers say, the unnamed man was driving a 2013 Ford Fusion north on I-95, in the southbound outside lane. A 2006 semi-tractor trailer was traveling south in the southbound outside lane and veered into the inside lane in an attempt to avoid colliding with the Ford Fusion. But the Ford Fusion also veered into the inside lane directly at the semi-tractor, troopers also said.
Again, the semi-tractor veered back into the outside lane while braking, but the Ford Fusion which veered back into the outside lane, crashed directly into semi-tractor.
The Ford Fusion erupted into flames and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi-tractor trailer, 49-year-old Jeffrey Wilson, of Baldwin Maryland, suffered minor injuries.
Troopers have not released the name of the deceased driver, who hails from Davie, Florida, pending notification of next of kin.
This crash remains under investigation.
