Woman Killed after Vehicle Overturns Near Semoran Boulevard

A female taxi driver was killed early on Wednesday when the vehicle she was driving struck a tree and overturned, Orlando police said.

The crash happened near South Semoran Boulevard, just after 2:30 a.m.

Officials said, the driver was traveling southbound on South Semoran Boulevard entering the on ramp for the Beachline westbound, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle drove off the ramp onto the grassy median. The 1999 Ford Crown Victoria, struck a tree head on and flipped onto its side, ejecting the driver.

Police said, the white female driver was not wearing a seat belt and died on the scene.

The name of the driver of the Big Apple Taxi has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

Wednesday’s fatality brings the total number of traffic homicides in Orlando for the year to sixteen.
