Incumbent mayors in Winter Park and Maitland, two Orange County cities, easily beat back their challengers in Tuesday’s elections to hold their mayoral seats.
Ken Bradley, Mayor of Winter Park, handily won 72 percent of the vote and trounced challenger Nancy Miles who carried 28 percent. Bradley, who bested former Mayor David Strong nearly three years ago, campaigned on his record of tough fiscal conservative principles and promised a brighter future for Winter Park residents.
Howard Schieferdecker, Mayor of Maitland, who took over the post last year, easily won his two opponents in the race, former Mayor Douglas Kinson and political newcomer John Yanchunis. Schieferdecker commanded 68 percent of the vote to Kinson’s 29 percent; Yanchunis received a mere 3 percent.
