Want to Build a Greener Orlando? Apply for City Subcommittee

Do you want to help build a greener Orlando? If so, the City of Orlando invites you to submit an application to serve on the local Clean Energy and Green Buildings Subcommittee.

You must be a City of Orlando resident, nonprofit leader, leadership association member, building manager or business owner.

By joining the subcommittee, members can be part of continuing to move Orlando forward in meeting the city clean energy goals, making local buildings more energy efficient, and encouraging green building practices. By pursuing these goals, the City of Orlando hopes to curb waste, save businesses and residents money, boost the local economy, create new jobs, and support a cleaner, healthier environment.

According to the city, this group meets 2-3 times per year to receive energy and building related updates from the city and talk about challenges and opportunities. Based on that, it’s hard to imagine how much of an actual impact such a subcommittee can make, and Mayor Buddy Dyer has shown over the years he will do what he wants regardless of residents or local committees.

But, if this opportunity interests you, the City of Orlando is accepting applications for community members until February 10th. Learn more and apply online.
