A little girl found wandering alone in the Nassau Bay Apartment complex located on N. Orange Blossom Trail, was returned to her family late on Wednesday.

According to the Department of Children and Families (DCF), the child was left with an adult sister, who unable to afford child care, left the almost 2-year-old in the care of a friend, as she headed off to work.   The friend, who had worked an overnight shift, fell asleep and upon waking up saw the flyers for the lost child and contacted the managers at the apartment complex.

The under 2-year-old was able to demonstrate to investigators how she is able to put on her boots without assistance and leave the house all by herself, DCF also said.

There were no signs of visible abuse or neglect.  DCF said, the adult sister upon returning from work was quite distraught to find her sister missing.

Investigators are working with the family on obtaining additional locks and will help them obtain affordable child care.

It is not clear if any charges will be filed as Orlando police are still reviewing the incident.
