“Black Friday” will arrive earlier than usual at Walmart this year, with holiday shopping kicking off at 8:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving, two hours earlier than one year ago.
And while Wal-Mart is stocking up on electronic products in an effort to entice shoppers, the stores’ workers are protesting the earlier than usual opening time.
According to News One, Wal-Mart employees across the country say, this is another example of the mega-discount chain’s disconnect with and flagrant disregard for its workers.
On a lighter note, consumers in line in Wal-Mart stores between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Thanksgiving will be able to purchase the following items: an Apple iPad 2 with Wi-Fi for $399 plus a $74 Wal-Mart gift card; an Emerson 32-inch LCD TV for $148, down from the original $228; and an LG Blu-ray Disc player for $38, about half off the original price.
