Heart of Florida United Way (HFUW) has announced the third round of competitive funding opportunities under its Investing in Results strategic prevention initiative. The competitive funding process opened on Monday, October 8 in three areas: Developing Healthy Children and Families, Improving Financial Stability, and Collaborations. (Collaborations will focus on two or more of HFUW’s investment areas: Building Safe Communities through Education, Developing Healthy Children and Families, and/or Improving Financial Stability.)
About Investing in Results
Investing in Results is an expanded way for HFUW to address the escalating health and human service needs in Central Florida. The goal of the IIR competitive grant process is to create lasting solutions – ones that use proven methods and best-practice collaborations to address the root cause of specific issues.
The Request for Proposal (RFP) Process
The first stage of the competitive funding process for all RFPs is open from October 8 through 29. Qualified 501(c)(3) organizations/programs that provide services in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties, and are interested in applying for a grant can view the application requirements at www.hfuw.org. If they qualify, they are encouraged to take the first step to submit a letter of interest. Additional details about the application and timeline are available on the website.
The Competitive Funding Process
The HFUW competitive funding process is overseen by local volunteers, including issue experts and community leaders, who will review applications and make funding recommendations. These recommendations will be presented to the HFUW Board of Directors. Award recipients will be notified and announced in late May 2013, pending the Board’s approval of more than $1 million in grants.
HFUW officially launched the competitive grant process in 2008. The $1 million to be awarded next year, is part of more than $31 million in resources distributed to 123 local nonprofit programs and through HFUW administered programs, donor designations and state programs since the organization began to award grants in 2009.
