A Florida man collapsed and died after entering and winning a bug eating contest last Friday.

32-year-old Edward Archbold, of West Palm Beach, stuffed dozens or roaches and worms into his mouth, the sun-sentinel.com reported. He, along with 30 other contestants, was competing for the grand prize of a python at the Ben Siegel Reptile Store, the paper also reported.

Shortly after the contest ended, Archbold began vomiting and collapsed outside the store. He was taken to a local area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Siegel, the store owner said, Archbold’s death was unfortunate, but that the insects are “captive bugs and bred in sterile conditions.”

None of the other contestants reported feeling ill.

Autopsy results are being awaited to determine the cause of Archbold’s death.
