Two Women Arrested for Street Racing with Teen & Baby in Cars

Two women were arrested for street racing and child neglect in Central Florida, with a 15-year-old teen in one car and an 8-month-old baby in the other car.

Earlier this month at 1:50am, Ocala Police Officer D. Barry observed two westbound cars – a Cadillac sedan and a Toyota sedan – racing in the 3100 block of SW College Rd. Using his handheld radar, he recorded a speed of 93 mph in a 45 mph zone. Officer Barry caught up to the vehicles and stopped the Cadillac in the 3800 block of SW College Rd.

Driving the Cadillac was 22-year-old Jamirria Blunt, accompanied by a 15-year-old front-seat passenger. The Toyota also pulled over, and Officer Barker arrived to assist. Officer Barker identified the Toyota’s driver as 22-year-old Kiara Johnson, who had an 8-month-old child in a rear-facing car seat.

Due to the danger posed to the children in each vehicle, Blunt and Johnson were arrested for child neglect and highway racing and taken to the Marion County Jail.

Racing presents serious dangers, including increased risks of severe accidents and death. The local law enforcement reminded the community they have zero tolerance for highway racing and will do everything they can to ensure that roads are safe.
