Two Suspects Arrested in Terry Avenue Drug Killing

Orlando Police Department Homicide Unit arrested two suspects in connection with the shooting death of a 49-year-old man at Terry Avenue and Jackson Street on Saturday, October 2.

Investigators located around 1:30 am on Tuesday the get away vehicle used in the homicide of Michael Hutto.  Detectives said that the vehicle was identified using the IRIS camera system as a Nissan Frontier.

The OPD Fugitive Unit made contact with the suspected driver, Stephen W. Koon, 23 years, and transported him to the Police Headquarters. Further investigation led police to identify the shooter, Brandon R. James, 41 years, who was located on south Orange Blossom Trail.

Police believe that the motive in the shooting of Michael Hutto was revenge for a bad drug sale.

Koon and James were booked into the Orange County Jail.

James was charged with first degree murder with a firearm.    Koon was charged with first degree murder.

The investigation is ongoing.
