Orange County deputies said Wednesday, two persons of interest have recently been arrested on unrelated charges and are being questioned in the murder of 83-year-old Elena Ortega.
Deputies have not released the identities of the two persons, but would only say, they are cooperating with the investigation.
Deputies said, the red Doge Neon, named earlier as a vehicle of interest, has been identified.
Ortega was found dead in a home in the 5000 block of Turnbull Drive off Hoffner Avenue, one week ago, after investigators were alerted to smoke coming from the home.
Ortega’s body, found inside the home, showed signs of trauma and investigators say, the fire was deliberately set, possibly to cover up her murder.
Investigators have not said how Ortega was killed, but neighbors report hearing gunshots during the night.
Anyone with information on this crime or who might have seen a red Dodge Neon vehicle, similar to the one pictured, is urged to call Crimeline at # 1-800-423-TIPS.
