Two students in Orlando area schools are being treated for flu like symptoms, and it is believed that it could be swine flu.
One student at Timber Creek High School in Orlando has been diagnosed with a possible case of swine flu, a school official said in a recorded announcement that has been sent to all parents.
The other case is a student at Stone Lakes Elementary who is being treated for swine flu. That student is not hospitalized and is recovering at home.
Principal Ginny Kennerly, in a letter to families, stated that all surfaces are being disinfected daily. The letter also stated that teachers are reinforcing the importance of good hygiene and discussing this with students.
While a vaccine is being developed to treat the swine flu virus, one big worry on the part of federal officials is that, massive quantities of the vaccine will not be ready before mid-October. Additionally, upon receiving treatment, several weeks are required before the vaccine can take effect.
