Two Arrested after Deputies Located Stolen Tampa U-Haul

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested two individuals involved in the theft of a U-Haul van in Tampa.

On January 17th at 2:11pm, deputies located a stolen U-Haul van at the RaceTrac gas station at 2120 E Fowler Avenue in Tampa.

With the help of the HCSO Aviation Section, 39-year-old Nicole Pender and 43-year-old Jean Gabaree were observed entering the U-Haul and driving to the east side of the parking lot. Here’s video provided by law enforcement:

Deputies took both suspects into custody without incident. During a vehicle search, deputies discovered several personal identification items that did not belong to the suspects, including driver’s licenses, bank cards, and social security cards.

Nicole Pender is facing charges of Grand Theft Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Controlled Substance (x2), Possession of Drug Without Prescription, Unlawful Possession of Personal ID of Another (5 or more), Driving with licensed Suspended 3rd or Subsequent, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Jean Gabaree is facing charges of Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of a Controlled Substance (x2), Trespass in Unoccupied Structure or Conveyance, Unlawful Possession of Personal ID of Another (5 or more), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

“This is another example of teamwork between our patrol deputies and specialized units like the Aviation Section. Their efforts ensured stolen property was recovered, and two suspects were taken off the streets,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We are committed to holding individuals accountable for their actions and ensuring that our community remains safe from criminal activity.”

This is an active investigation, according to local law enforcement.
