A man who abducted a mother and her three young children from their Fort Lauderdale home on Wednesday, is now behind bars. Troopers said, the man had a navigation system in his vehicle which provided information on his exaction location as he drove along.
Luis Medardo Ramos, 26, was arrested on State Road 421 and charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment and is in the Volusia County Jail.
Troopers were alerted by family and neighbors that a mother and three children were kidnapped from their Ft. Lauderdale home on Wednesday.
The suspect, identified as Ramos, the father of two of the children and the ex-boyfriend of the mother, was located heading north on I-95 around mid-night.
FHP said, Ramos was driving a 2011 Chey Impala equipped with the On-Star system which provided up-to-the minute GPS coordinates of his location.
Trooper Cain followed Ramos off of I-95 onto State Road 421 and initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Jacobus road and SR 421.
Ramos was arrested without incident and booked into the Volusia County Jail.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office and the Port Orange Police Department assisted Trooper Cain in apprehending Ramos.
