Timber Creek High Principal Selected for Prestigious Awards

John Wright, Timber Creek High School principal, recently received two honorable awards. Mr. Wright has been named the 2011 Principal of the Year by the Florida Association of Student Councils (FASC) and the 2011 Administrator of the Year by the Florida State Thespian Board of Directors.

Both awards are for outstanding efforts he has made at Timber Creek High. The FASC selected Mr. Wright based on his outstanding efforts integrating co-curricular activities on campus. The Florida Thespian Board of Directors credited Mr. Wright for making the arts and theatre a vital part of his school.

John Wright has been the principal of Timber Creek High School since it opened 10 years ago. It is an “A”-rated school by the Florida Department of Education, and currently has the highest rating of all the high schools in the district. Timber Creek is one of only a few high schools in the state to have an Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) rating that exceeds 90 percent. Timber Creek’s AYP rating is currently 97 percent. This means that the various student subgroups at the school are performing at high levels. Timber Creek is also one of the district’s 13 high schools named “Top of the Class” by Newsweek magazine in 2010.
