Accenture, the global management consulting and technology services company, announcing today that it was ending its relationship with Tiger Woods, making it the first major sponsor to do so.

A statement released on the company’s website on Sunday said that, “given the circumstances of the last two weeks”, the golfer “is no longer the right representative for its advertising”.
Woods had a six-year relationship with Accenture and the campaign slogan “Go on, be the Tiger”, had led to a very successful sponsorship relationship between the two parties. The company said in their statement that their decision came “after careful consideration and analysis” of what had taken place over the past two weeks.
According to Accenture, the plan it to immediately transition to a new advertising campaign, with a major effort scheduled to launch later in 2010.
Meanwhile, Gillette, another major sponsor of Woods has indicated that it doesn’t plan to air advertising that feature the world’s number one golfer and they plan on phasing him out of their ads.
AT&T has indicated that they are currently evaluating their relationship with Wood, while Nike so far is sticking with the golfer.
