Rep. Geraldine F. Thompson (District 39) has been selected by the Women of Legislators’ Lobby (WiLL) to serve as a State Director for the nationwide network of women state legislators. Thompson’s selection comes in light of her demonstrated leadership in the Florida Legislature and in her community.
Since her election to the Florida House of Representatives in 2006, Thompson has provided exemplary leadership on a number of issues important to her constituents and to Florida, to include issues affecting children and senior citizens, the disadvantaged, as well as state budget and infrastructure needs.
As a WiLL State Director, Thompson will work with the national non-partisan network of women legislators to influence federal legislation and the budgetary policy that will positively impact Florida. WiLL President Sen. Nan Grogan Orrock (GA) announced the State Director appointment in Washington, DC, saying “WiLL recognizes the accomplishments of Representative Thompson and will benefit greatly from her leadership and vision as a State Director”.
“With a membership base of more than one out of every three women legislators, WiLL is a strong voice for national policy that addresses the health and well-being of women, children and families, protects our environment, and opposes bloated military spending that builds too many weapons and not enough schools,” stated Georgia State Senator Orrock.
Rep. Thompson, as a WiLL State Director, will be working with women from all fifty states to amplify women’s voices, promote women’s leadership, and support a national agenda that promotes true homeland security and prosperity.
