Thompson Backs New Map for Senate District 12

Rep. Geraldine Thompson said Friday, she is in favor of the new map for Senate District 12 in West Orange County, as it reflects the diversity of people now living in Central Florida.

Approved by the Florida Supreme Court late last month, the new map for Senate District 12 now includes Ocoee, Winter Garden, Apopka, Plymouth, Zellwood, Tangerine, Oakland, Tildenville, and a part of Stoneybrook West, Harlem Heights, and a portion of Windermere, Gotha, Oak Ridge, Tangelo Park, Pine Hills and Eatonville.

“The Senate District reflects the diversity of people now living in Central Florida,” she said. “With the new configuration, from my home in Senate District 12, I am in close proximity to residents throughout the new district.”

Thompson, who has lived in West Orange County for more than 30 years, has served portions of the new district since she was elected in 2006. Along with her husband, Judge Emerson R. Thompson, the couple has three children who attended Hiawassee Elementary School, Robinswood Middle and West Orange High School.

“I look forward to continuing to build relationships that I have had with West Orange County residents for more than three decades,” Thompson said.
