The Simpsons Expanding in Orlando

Universal Orlando continues their focus on enhancing their theme parks to completely immerse guests in the experience. They have already announced plans to bring Transformers to Orlando’s Universal Studios park and there are rumors buzzing about the expected Harry Potter expansion of the Wizarding World in the same park.

However, the construction doesn’t end there. Right across the lagoon, work is already underway in the Simpsons land as well. This area features the Krustyland ride which opened in 2008 and has recently also seen the addition of many gaming areas to play for prizes.

The building currently being demolished is the International Food and Film Festival. Rumors are swirling about the addition of a Krusty Burger restaurant and possibly a Moe’s Tavern. They will also likely be adding a ride geared towards younger guests, said to be a “Kodos and Kang” spinner ride (the aliens from the Halloween specials).

This expansion would bring more of Springfield to the park, while also providing what will be a desperately needed expanded area when crowds slam the new Gringotts Wizarding Bank and expected London area.

Reports also indicate that Universal may add many more photo opportunities with many of Springfield’s residents, similar to its Toon Lagoon in Universal Islands of Adventure.
