The Gantt Report
LeBron James may be the best basketball player in the world but Cleveland is not necessarily the best location for a kingdom!
I know about King James’ statement that was coauthored by a writer from Sports Illustrated but I don’t believe it.
I didn’t believe the statement about Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh being the King’s “brothers”, I didn’t believe the talk about a “max contract” and I certainly didn’t believe the cruel joke to Miami Heat fans about “not, one, not two, not three…” and on and on.
If you don’t know, the King doesn’t control his kingdom and he can’t control his subjects.
Don’t believe all the talk about “I love home”. The King had a good time in Miami. He won championships. He was loved by Miami fans even though he was hated in his home state and in his Cleveland kingdom.
Some people like to be a King maker but it is always better to be a King controller!
I think LeBron left Miami because he could not make the Miami Heat or the Miami residents do what he wanted them to do.
Let me explain. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith reported recently that Mama King wanted to leave Miami because The Heat would not give her an all-access pass so she could go anywhere she wanted to go in American Airlines Arena.
And he said the King’s entourage wanted the King to go back to Cleveland and play for an NBA owner that called the King a “coward” and other unsavory names.
The King’s boys were mad because they wanted to sit very near to the Miami Heat bench and Heat management said no.
Make no mistake, LeBron is “The King” on the basketball court because of his talent but in life he is no better than any other player or, for that matter, he is no better than any other person in the eyes of the Lord.
“King” yes, but God no!
Let me say a thing or two about the kingdom. LeBron said he would like to finish his career in Cleveland. He would like to win a championship for Cleveland and he would like to raise his family and help his lifelong friends in Cleveland.
Well, if you don’t know, LeBron has essentially a one year contract with Cleveland. He has a two year deal but he can opt out after one season.
If mama, wife and friends can’t do whatever they want to it wouldn’t surprise me one bit to see the King leave the kingdom and go play in New York or Los Angeles with Carmelo Anthony or with Kobe Bryant.
Don’t worry about the money. The King is already making more money, if you include endorsements, than anybody in the NBA. He could have gotten more money from the Miami Heat than he got going to Cleveland. Hell, his NBA check in Cleveland is a couple of million dollars less than what Miami will pay Chris Bosh this coming season.
Finally, my hometown is Atlanta, Georgia. I can go “home” any time I want to but my family and friends deal with a lot of drama and I want to live without being stressed to death!
The calling, dropping by the house and even the begging that friends and family will do is hard on a man like me that has hypertension.
The people in Cleveland want a winner. If the King can win with a substandard cast of teammates may God bless him but if he can’t the boos and the burned jerseys will rain down on him like one dollar bills rain on strippers at Magic City and The Rolex!
All in all, LeBron James is one of my favorite basketball players but I don’t believe a word he says. If you want to know the truth about the King, ask Mama King or Queen Wifey
