Tezlyn Figaró announced her candidacy for Florida House of Representatives, District 39. Figaró is the Founder/CEO of The Allied Group, a human resource staffing firm located in Orlando. Fiercely dedicated to her community, she is energizing the voters of District 39.
“During the last nine months of the toughest employment market in Central Florida, I have placed 160 people from the community into paying jobs, changing their lives. I hire people to whom everyone else has told no, and I help them succeed. As a Representative, I’ll continue to put the needs of every person in District 39 at the forefront of every goal.”
Part of Figaró’s commitment to the community is seen in her business, which includes a volunteer corps. Under her leadership, more than 300 of The Allied Group volunteers have provided over 35,000 hours of community service. Additionally, she is passionate about helping youth find their path in life, and through The Allied Group she has hired more than 25 Workforce Academy students for the City Venues.
Figaró’s vast knowledge and leadership abilities are due in part to her experience in the U.S. Air Force Reserves Security Police Unit, as well as managerial positions at Robert Half International Staffing and Adecco Staffing before starting her own business. As a result of her business success and community commitment she was the only minority female out of over 250 applicants named one of Orlando Business Journal’s 40 under 40 in 2010.
Figaro’s active community service includes 9th Judicial Circuit Court volunteer mediator, Orange County League of Women Voters Board Member, Central Florida Partnership Young Professional Advisory Committee member, METROPLAN Orlando Citizens Advisory Committee member and Orange County Bar Association Court Appointed Child Advocate. Figaro is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator and Florida Bar Certified Grievance Mediator.
Figaró is also the single parent of a four year old daughter.
