A Cocoa teen is in critical condition after she lost control of the vehicle she was driving and crashed into an oncoming SUV on State Road 528.
The crash occurred just after 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, near mile marker 31.
A 19-year-old teen was heading westbound on State Road 528, when for an unknown reason, she crossed the inside westbound lane, onto the grassy median and into the path of an oncoming Dodge SUV, travelling eastbound, troopers said
79-year-old Theodore H. Jenkins, of Melbourne, who was driving the Dodge SUV attempted to avoid the crash by changing lanes, but the Dodge Sentra, driven by the teen, still collided with the SUV.
The unnamed teen was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Jenkins and his passenger, Patricia A. Jenkins, 80, suffered minor injuries.
The crash shut down SR 528 for several hours on Saturday afternoon.
Troopers said, the crash remains under investigation.
