Tampa Electric is reporting as of 11:30 a.m. on Friday, approximately 20,000 customers without electric service. The outages are widespread throughout our service area, which includes all of Hillsborough County and parts of Polk, Pasco and Pinellas counties.
Tampa Electric has approximately 600 team members and 80 contractors working to restore power.
Severe storm weather, accompanied by high winds, rain and twisters, swept through Central Florida over the past few days causing significant damage, including downed trees and limbs, and power lines in numerous locations.
The company said, it anticipated restoration efforts associated with this storm will be essentially completed by midnight on Friday.
