Gov. Rick Scott, legislative leaders and other state officials gathered on Wednesday for the official opening of the new Department of Economic Opportunity.
Headquartered in the Caldwell Building, just south of the Capitol, a new sign for the agency was unveiled to mark its official opening.
The Department of Economic Opportunity combines several economic development and workforce-related agencies, namely, the Department of Community Affairs, the Agency for Workforce Innovation and Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development.
In June earlier this year, when the agency was created by the legislature, Scott said it would “help bring jobs to Florida.”
