Tezlyn Figaro Communications Group is reporting that the first debate organized by Impact Central Florida for candidates in the Orlando City Commissioners’ District 5, has been canceled. According to the Impact Central Florida press release, the debate slated for March 13, was cancelled due to the resistance of candidates not named by Impact Central Florida.
In an article dated March 3, 2014 in the Orlando Sentinel written by Mark Schlueb, Juan Lynum stated that he would not attend the event calling the organizers of the debate ‘unprofessional’.
“I regret the opportunity to speak to the people in a public debate addressing the concerns of the people of District 5,” said Regina Hill, one of the candidates in the District 5 race. “I have always made myself available to answer the tough questions throughout the campaign and I regret that the people will not have a chance to hear my platform for a better District 5”
Hill added that, “Anyone seeking a political office should make themselves available to speak to all of the residents. This continued legacy of disenfranchisement, abandonment and inaccessibility is why I am running to be the next City of Orlando City Commissioner for District 5.”
