Speaker Cannon Most Effective at Destroying the Middle Class, says Randolph

Rep. Scott Randolph (D-Orlando) released a statement on Wednesday, calling Republican Speaker Dean Cannon the most effective legislator when it came to destroying Florida’s middle class and following the Speaker’s comments on Tuesday that the flap over the word “uterus” was silly.

Rep. Scott Randolph (D-Orlando)

“I’d like to congratulate Speaker Cannon on being the most effective legislator when it comes to waging war on middle class Floridians,” Rep. Randolph said.

“Who will we be checking off the Chamber of Commerce checklist today? The Republicans in this legislature have already stuck it to unions, the unemployed, the underprivileged, the uninsured, and a woman’s uterus.

“Let’s be clear: Speaker Dean Cannon is THE most effective legislator. He’s so effective, in fact, that big businesses, special interest groups and out-of-state corporations have paid a disgusting amount of money to buy him and his anti-middle class agenda.

“Middle class Floridians, on the other hand (am I allowed to say that body part?),  are struggling to put a meal on the table for their children, struggling to stay in their homes, struggling to survive each and every day in this state and they don’t have millions of dollars to buy politicians and votes.

Randolph went viral and gained national attention when he was reprimanded by the Republican leadership for using the word “uterus” on the House floor two weeks ago, after he chastised Republican lawmakers for the nearly 20 anti-arbortion bills moving through the Legislature. He suggested perhaps his wife should “incorporate her uterus” and then Republicans legislators would leave her alone.

“Led by the most effective legislator, this Republican legislature is on a mission to trample the voices of those who cannot speak with their checkbooks,” Randolph added.
