Sheriff’s Office, Neighborhoods Host National Night Out

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office and local neighborhoods are teaming up on Tuesday night to host the 28th National Night Out against crime.  The combined effort involves citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from all over the area.

National Night Out is celebrated annually on the first Tuesday in August.

The goal is to promote crime prevention and safety programs, generate support for local anti-crime partnerships, strengthen neighborhood spirit, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and doing their part to fight crime.

The events will take place on Tuesday, August 2nd,  at the following locations, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

A partial list of locations include:

  • Avalon Park
  • Eagles Glen – where the OCSO Motors unit will be stationed.
  •   Rose Point – where Orange County Mayor Jacobs and Commissioner Fred Brummer will attend.
  • South Apopka Bridges Center – where three communities will combine into one event – Sheriff Demings will attend.
  • Wyndham Lakes Estates  – where six different subdivisions combine for one event.

During the sheriff’s event, free food including hot dogs, popcorn, doughnuts and soda will be provided.

WHO:      The operation is a multi-agency effort involving members of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Orlando Police Department, Winter Park Police Department, University of Central Florida Police Department, Edgewood Police Department, the Apopka Police Department and many more.
