Local law enforcement busted a man they called a serial impersonator in Orange County.
On April 21st, Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call from a concerned motorist who had been stopped by someone claiming to be a law enforcement officer.
Deputies made contact with 60-year-old Albert Dolan, and the victim confirmed he was the man who unlawfully conducted a traffic stop. But this isn’t the first time Dolan has pretended to be a cop.
According to law enforcement, this is his fourth arrest for impersonating a LEO. Dolan had a light bar (amber lights) and push bar on his vehicle, making it look like an unmarked police unit.
They remind the public that ONLY law enforcement can have red and blue lights on their vehicles.
OCSO also said the victim did the right thing by asking for Dolan’s ID (he refused to produce it) and then taking note of his license plate number.
“Your safety is important,” the Orange County Sheriff’s Office posted. “If you are ever pulled over and suspect it might not be a legit law enforcement officer, you can always ask for ID or call 911 to check and see whether an officer has notified dispatchers of a traffic stop at that location.”
According to OCSO, Albert Dolan was arrested for falsely impersonating an officer.
