Senator Taddeo’s Gubernatorial Campaign Announces Visit to Puerto Rico

As part of her statewide tour Senator Annette Taddeo’s gubernatorial campaign recently announced an additional campaign stop to Puerto Rico on May 14th.

“Just a few days after winning the special election to the Florida Senate I flew to Ponce, Puerto Rico with my friend Sen. Torres and other lawmakers on a supply trip after the devastation left by Hurricane Maria,” said Sen. Taddeo. “In the Senate, I’ve demonstrated my strong commitment to the Puerto Rican people and the Boricua community all across Florida.”

Sen. Taddeo is trying to break away from the other Democratic primary frontrunners, former Republican-turned-Democrat Charlie Crist and Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried. The Democratic nominee will have an uphill battle against Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, so candidates need to demonstrate how they will excite and turn out Democratic voters to flip Florida.

“As the first and only Latina running for Governor, it is incredibly important to me that we take this trip to hear from the people about how we can further strengthen the relationship between Florida and Puerto Rico,” Sen. Taddeo added.

Taddeo successfully flipped Senate District 40 from red to blue when she made history as the first Latina Democrat elected to Florida’s Senate.  She was subsequently re-elected and currently represents a district Trump won by 6 points.
