Second Arrest Made in Recent Central Florida Homicide

A second arrest has been made following a Central Florida stabbing homicide that took place on November 25, 2023.

On November 25th, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a stabbing in the 9200 Block of Rock Harbour Way in Tampa. When deputies arrived, they discovered a victim with upper body trauma and transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased a short while later.

After a thorough investigation, a warrant was issued for 23-year-old Shamek Carter-Bowick on charges of Premeditated First Degree Murder, Robbery while Wearing a Mask (Firearm or Deadly Weapon), and Armed Burglary of a Structure with Assault or Battery. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office previously arrested 34-year-old Ja’Quan Glymp for his involvement in the homicide.

Through investigative means and assistance from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Carter-Bowick was taken into custody in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on December 21st without incident.

“For weeks, our detectives have relentlessly pursued every lead,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Through their tireless work, our deputies have once again demonstrated the strength of our commitment to public safety. With the arrest of the second suspect in this homicide case, we can offer this grieving family the closure they deserve. We are immensely grateful for the collaboration of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. This arrest is just another example of the teamwork, dedication, and unity that lies within the law enforcement community.”

This investigation is ongoing, according to local law enforcement.
