The Holocaust Center defines an UpStander as a person who takes steps – large or small – to defend the rights and safety of everyone in their community. The Holocaust Center is asking local students and adults to take the pledge to stand up against bullying.
This family-friendly event will begin with Honorary Chair and City Commissioner Patty Sheehan, reading a proclamation declaring October 14 as UpStander Day. Throughout the event there will be live music and other entertainment, information tables about bullying programs, and activities for children including face painting and balloon artists.
The UpStanders: Stand Up To Bullying initiative is part of the Holocaust Center’s services to schools and communities in Central Florida. More information is available at www.holocaustedu.org.
