Sears to Close Store in West Oaks Mall

Sears Holdings Corporation announced Thursday that, eleven Sears full line stores will close, among them its Ocoee location.

A definitive agreement was reached for the sale of 11 full line stores to General Growth Properties, for a purchase price of $270 million, the company said in a statement. The transaction is expected to close in the next 45 to 60 days.

Located in West Oaks Mall in Ocoee, this Sears store is the only Florida location on the current list of stores slated for closure.

Last December, Sears announced the closure of three Sears and Kmart stores in Central Florida — Deland on International Speedway, New Smyrna Beach located at 1724 State Road 44 and in Orange City at 810 Saxon Boulevard.

Regarding the current list of store closures, Sears said, the stores will continue to operate as Sears locations into 2013, with final closing dates announced later this year.

Between 40 to 80 sales associates could be affected by the closure of the Sears Ocoee location.
