Deputies are searching for a Lakeland mother who they believe killed her one-year-old toddler and is now missing.
Polk County detectives say, paramedics were unable to revive 1-year-old Ishan Patel when they got to the home of 33-year-old Neha Patel, the baby’s mother.
Neha’s husband, 33-year-old Rasesh Patel told investigators that he called his wife from work yesterday, repeatedly, but there was no answer.
Rasesh also told investigators he searched throughout the day for his wife, including driving to Ocala where her credit card was used and going to the Tampa General Hospital, but couldn’t locate her or his son.
According to investigators, Neha returned home between 2:00 a.m. and 2:40 a.m. on Friday morning with Ishan, the baby, wrapped in a blanket. Although refusing to answer any questions as to her whereabouts, she told Rasesh she had killed the baby earlier in the day.
Rasesh told investigators that Nesh suffers from postpartum and didn’t have her medication with her.
Neha fled the home after Rasesh called her father, saying she is going to kill herself, investigators said.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said Ishan died from blunt force trauma.
A statewide BOLO (Be On Look Out) for Neha and her vehicle has been issued. Her vehicle is described as a light blue 2008 Toyota Sienna Van, with Florida tag A10 0NJ.
Investigators say, Neha’s credit card was used just before 5:30 a.m. today at a parking garage at Tampa International Airport and again at a 7-11 gas station in Tampa. It is believed that she is suicidal.
Anyone who has any information about this investigation or knows the whereabouts of Neha Patel, is urged to contact the Polk County Sheriff’s by calling 9-1-1 or 863-298-6200.
