Scott Trying to Sell Health Clinic Business

Gov. Rick Scott said on Tuesday, that has been trying to sell his chain of health clinics, as he doesn’t have time to focus on the company, not because he’s concerned about any conflicts of interest.

Scott added that, since being elected last November 2, he has been in the process of looking to sell Solantic.  But, “quickly divesting from a privately held company isn’t easy” and “in business, nothing’s done until it’s done,” Scott said, reports the News Service of Florida.

Scott reiterated that control of the business has been transferred to a trust in his wife’s name.

While Solantic has had state contracts in the past, Scott said the company won’t do any business with the state.

“I don’t intend for Solantic to enter into state contracts,” Scott told reporters again on Tuesday after a visit to the Agency for Persons with Disabilities.

Scott’s chain of health clinics provides a range of services, including drug testing, which he has been pushing for state for state employees to undergo.  This has led many Floridians to question whether Scott would gain big bucks from state employees’ drug tests.  He has repeatedly said his company would not be a beneficiary.
