Scott Proposes Millions in Business Incentives

Gov. Rick Scott proposed Monday to spend $800 million over two years in economic incentives to businesses to move to or expand in Florida.

Scott rolled out his first budget proposal at a tea party event in Eustis.  Scott has said he wants to create 700,000 jobs in seven years.

“By pumping $800 million into economic development over the next two years, Gov. Scott is sending a loud and clear message that he is serious about moving Florida toward the new economy,” said Mark Wilson, president of the Florida Chamber of Commerce.

While adding the economic development money to the budget, Scott overall proposed cutting about $5 billion from the spending plan, including $2 billion in tax cuts.
