Everyone was a little surprised to see the Orlando Sentinel’s, Scott Maxwell bloody Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer over the Chalk arrest and its stupidity.
But let’s face it, Mr. Maxwell could have gone much, much further. Hmmm, where should he have started?
Let’s start backwards with the glaring absence of Buddy Dyer from any of the Occupy Orlando rallies. Couldn’t the Mayor have shown his support for young Orlandoans and their frustration over the national and state economy? It would have depicted him in a better light considering Orlando’s sky high unemployment rate.
Or, how about Awake The State rallies. Where was Buddy Dyer? What does he think about the ax Gov. Rick Scott is swinging at the largely lower-middle and working class of his city? Â Has he no opinion of these brutal layoffs and their effects? Does he approve of the actions in Tallahassee? Does his backing of Dean Cannon belie who he really is – maybe a Tea Partier in drag, dressed up as an Obama Democrat, who ultimately capitulates to the right?
Scott Maxwell certainly got it right.
With decisions like the arrest of 25-year-old Timothy Osmar, Buddy Dyer and the City of Orlando do look like a joke. Just like it did when it was named the meanest city in the nation. The same way it did when it banned large scale feeding of the hungry in city parks. The way it always does when it leads in pedestrian fatalities for the nation. Â Or the way it disrespects the democratic process during the public commentary portion of the City’s Council meetings. Or the way it embarrasses itself nationally, by its exclusion of locally-owned digital media firms from activities at the the Community Venue, also known as Amway Center, built with tax dollars, while touting its digital village of the future.
Not sure what will happen, but Buddy will be re-elected. Â And, if we can’t go tell it from the mountain tops, perhaps we should just chalk it up to fate. Â Whoops, can we say chalk?
