Orange County Deputy Puts Another Man Down

A man was shot and killed by an Orange County Sheriff’s deputy early on Friday morning, because the deputy feared for his life.

The shooting happened in the 4500 block on Metric Drive near Winter Park.

A statement from the Sheriff’s Office said, the deputy encountered the man, who was acting suspiciously coming out of the woods, as he patrolled the area.

The deputy said the man was ordered several times to show his hands, but did not comply. Instead, he kept advancing toward the deputy.

The unnamed deputy, in fear for his safety, fired on the man killing him. He was pronounced dead at the Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Authorities say, the victim is a Hispanic male and efforts are underway to determine his true identity.

The deputy who killed the unnamed man is a 7-year veteran of OCSO.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement will be conducting an investigation into the shooting, as well as, OCSO Professional Standards Unit.
