Rubio calls for More Offshore Drilling while Crist tries to Save State

U.S. senate candidate Marco Rubio says that he is in favor of more offshore drilling, as in the long run it has to be part of an overall energy strategy. Rubio made these observations last week to CNBC’s Larry Kudlow.

Rubio remarks contrast sharply with those of Gov. Charlie Crist, who said on Sunday that, the current oil spill catastrophe in the gulf ought to be a “great wake up call for everyone in America about the danger of fossil fuel.”

Crist, who is running as an independent in the upcoming US senate race, is currently battling underwater oil plumes, as the state tries to keep crude from washing up on Florida’s pristine beaches in the Panhandle.

Rubio also said that he is opposed to the U.S. Congress taking action to prevent BP from paying the $10 billion dollar dividend announced recently by the oil giant.
