A Gallup poll released on Tuesday revealed 66 percent of Americans favor raising taxes on higher-income Americans, while 70 percent support increasing revenues by closing corporate tax loop holes, policies enunciated by President Barack Obama to help create jobs and reduce the deficit.

The poll also showed, 53 percent of Republicans are in favor of increasing taxes on some corporations by eliminating certain tax deductions. By comparison, 86 percent of Democrats believe corporate tax loop holes should be closed.

The Gallup poll was conducted during September 15-18, with a random sample of 1,004 adults.
