Residents of the Pine Hills community will have an opportunity to meet and engage with the leading candidates in the upcoming Orange County mayoral race.
The Pine Hills Community Council, a non-profit volunteer advocacy group, announced on Wednesday it will sponsor a ‘Meet the Candidates’ Forum on Tuesday, June 1st from 6:30 p.m. at the Pine Hills Community Center located at 6406 Jennings Street. Residents will have an opportunity to interact with Commissioners Bill Segal and Linda Stewart, Teresa Jacobs and Matthew Falconer–the leading candidates in the race for Orange County mayor.
“This is an important race for Pine Hills residents,” said Bertina Busch, President of the Pine Hills Community Council. “This forum is our opportunity to make sure candidates are aware of the issues that are important to this community.”
For the past year the Pine Hills Community Council has focused its efforts on issues concerning the Evans High School Rebuild and the redevelopment of the Pine Hills community.
“We have been and will continue to be very concerned about the lack of a firm funding source to realize the strategic vision for the intersection of Pine Hills Rd. and Silver Star Rd,” says Busch. “We need to understand how the candidates plan to address these issues concerning the safety and vitality of our community.”
Pine Hills is an unincorporated area of Orange County and home to over 80,000 residents from diverse ethnic, racial and religious backgrounds.
