Piedmont Lakes Middle awarded for Breakfast Program

Piedmont Lakes Middle School has been awarded second place in the 2008-2009 Expanding Breakfast Awards Program by The Dairy Council of Florida.

Piedmont Lakes Middle School was among 50 applicants from 24 districts. The school food service manager, Nancy Brumbaugh, and her staff are dedicated to feeding students so that they can stay focused on learning

Piedmont Lakes’ breakfast program demonstrates innovation not only with the menu items, but also packaging and customer service. The staff has been feeding more than 250 students daily with the use of a breakfast cart since November. It has allowed students who may not have had breakfast at home to eat before class.

Students have a choice of chicken biscuits, scrambled eggs and French toast sticks. If a student is running late, they can pick up a “Grab ‘N Go” bag that includes a multigrain breakfast bar, bagel or hot pocket. Congratulations to Nancy Brumbaugh and her staff for helping to keep OCPS students healthy and ready to learn!

Piedmont Lakes Middle will receive $2,000 in prize money for their program.
